Dotorify User Guide
This is the same guide as My > User guide in the app. Screens were captured on iPhone with sample data.
Dotorify helps you record what you own, group things you use together, and pack what you need for upcoming plans. You can start without an account, and personal data stays on your device by default.
1. Start here

The app has three core areas.
- Inventory records the things you own. Choosing a type is enough to save an item; photos, purchase dates, and weight are optional. You can also note things you have not bought yet with the Planned status.
- Collections group things you use together or want to see in one place. Things you have not bought yet can go in as planned items.
- Prepare holds the items needed for one occasion, such as a trip or camping, and records what has been packed.
The three areas can connect, but you do not have to use them in a fixed order. Start with the one you need now.
- To start with what you own, choose Add item from the Add button on Home, or tap + on Inventory.
- To group things by situation, tap + on Collections and create a collection.
- To make a list right away, tap + on Prepare and start from a template or a blank list.
2. Add and manage inventory

Once an owned item is recorded, you can reuse it in collections, prep lists, and weight calculations.
Add an item

- Tap + at the bottom right of Inventory. Choosing Add > Add item on Home opens the same screen.
- Choose an item type. Product name and nickname are optional, so the type alone is enough to save.
- Add a photo, purchase date, weight, or notes when needed. The expiration date field appears only when you choose a type that has one, such as food, cosmetics, or medicine.
- When adding several items in a row, tap Save and add another. The type and storage location carry over to the next item, so change only what differs. When you open the type picker again, recently used types are at the top.
Fields that are not shown by default, such as an appliance’s warranty end date, come from Add a field at the bottom of the form. Warranty expires is in the Records group.
Add several items from photos
- On Inventory, open … (menu) at the top right, tap Add several from photos, and choose up to 20 photos.
- Choose a type for each photo. To give every row the same type, use Choose a type for all.
- Tap Add … items, and each photo with a type becomes one item. Tap Undo in the message that appears right after to remove all the items you just added at once.
Photos without a type stay on the screen. Choose their types and add them again. You cannot create a new type on this screen.
Classification terms
The type picker uses four words.
- Item type is what you choose for an item, such as “Power bank” or “Tent”. Each item has one.
- Category and Subcategory are the two levels you go through to reach an item type. The picker narrows from category → subcategory → item type.
- “Categories” is also the app’s word for category and subcategory together. It appears in the chips at the top of Inventory and in places such as Change category.
Typing a name in the search box skips the three levels. If nothing matches, Create the ‘…’ type appears where the results would be; tap it and choose where the type goes. Edit the types you made in My > My item types. To skip choosing, tap the button in the same spot to put it under Other. It is created under Other > Custom with that name.
Status and quantity
- On an item’s details, tap the status to switch it right away to Owned, In use, Stored, Lost, Replace soon, Consumable, Disposed, or Planned.
- Keep things you have not bought yet as Planned, and change them to Owned after you buy them.
- Items set to Disposed stay in the list, but you no longer get expiration or warranty reminders for them.
- When the quantity field is shown on an item’s details, tap −/+ to change the count. Each tap is saved right away. On the add and edit screens, the quantity field sits in the Basics group, below the storage location.
Find and edit items
- Search Inventory by name, type, brand, storage location, or notes.
- Change sorting from … (menu) at the top right > Choose sorting: Recently added, Oldest first, Name, Expiring soonest, Highest price, or Recently bought. Expiring soonest lists items with the nearest use-by date first; items without a date go to the end. Sorting by price or purchase date also puts items without that value at the end.
- To view items by place, write the place in the Storage location field under Basics (for example “car trunk”), then type that place name in the search box. On an item’s details, tap its storage location to see the items kept in the same place. Search matches the exact text you wrote, so use the same wording for the same place. The chips at the top group by category, so there is no chip for places.
- Tap an item card to open its details, then tap Edit at the top right to change the photo and saved information. You can also long-press a card to open Edit and Delete right away.
- Right after deletion, tap Undo in the “Deleted ‘…’” message at the bottom of the list to restore the photo and collection links too. The message stays for about 6 seconds; once it is gone there is no trash or recently deleted list, so the item cannot be recovered. Create a backup file before reorganizing records you need to keep.
3. Create and use collections

A collection is a board for things you often use together or need for the same situation.
- Tap + at the bottom right of Collections, then enter a name and description.
- Choose things you actually own from Inventory.
- Add things you do not own yet from the Planned items tab. They are also added to Inventory with the Planned status. After you buy one, change that item’s status to Owned.
- To add more later, tap Add item on the collection’s details. While editing a collection, tap the cover image to change it to a photo or go back to Auto collage.
A collection’s details also offer these actions:
- Start preparing: tap Start a prep list from this on the details, or Menu > Start preparing, to bring its items in and create a new prep list.
- Save as template: keep the same set of items from the menu for later reuse.
- Weight calculator: open it from the menu to total the weights of the items in the collection.
- Share as an image: send the items as one image.
Collections do not have packed states. Start a new prep list from the collection when you need to check items for a specific occasion.
4. Prep lists and templates

A prep list is a checklist for one occasion. A template is starting material that fills that list faster.
Start a prep list
- Tap + at the bottom right of Prepare to open Start preparing.
- Choose Create manually or one of the suggested templates. Saved templates, previous prep lists, and your collections also appear on this screen as soon as you have one.
- On the New prep list screen, set the name and deadline. The deadline can be a date and time, or you can leave it empty.
- On the same screen, remove anything you do not need, add what is missing with Add item, then tap Save at the top right. If you set a deadline, its notifications are already on.
Work through a prep list
- Tap an item on the prep detail screen to mark it packed, and tap again to undo the check.
- In Menu > Edit prep list, tap an item to change its name, its Required, Recommended, or Optional importance, and its description. These badges come from the template, so change them whenever you like.
- Tap Link an item on a prep item to connect it to something you own. You can change or remove the link later, and you can also add it as a new item right there.
- Tap the deadline date at the top of the details to open the deadline screen. Change the date and time and the deadline notifications for this prep list there. If there is no deadline yet, set it in the deadline field of Edit prep list.
- Tap › on the right of an item, or long-press the item, to see its importance, amount needed, linked item, and description together.
Checking an item does not automatically add it to your inventory. Adding and linking your items must be confirmed separately.
Find, sort, and finish
- When the list is long, use the search at the top and the All, Not packed, Packed, and Linked chips to see only what you need.
- In Menu > Sort items, choose To pack, A to Z, Packed first, Unpacked first, By importance, or By name.
- When everything is packed, the list moves to the completed prep lists on the Prepare tab. If the event is over and not everything was packed, tap Menu > Mark as complete. This also stops its deadline notifications. To open it again, use Move back to in progress.
- Where a store is available, Shop for it may appear on items that have expired or that you do not own yet. Tapping it opens a search link to a shop. If you buy through this link, Dotorify earns an affiliate commission. PRO can turn it off in My > Purchase suggestions.
Reuse templates
Choose Save as template from the prep detail menu to keep the current set of items. Saved templates gather in My prep list templates under Menu > Template management at the top right of the Prepare tab. Open a template to edit its name, description, and items. To delete one, long-press its card or use Delete template.
Collect suggested templates with Like. Like works only when you are signed in, and signing in also brings new templates and item types as they are added.
5. Dates and notifications

Record item dates and prep deadlines to get notified at the scheduled time.
Expiration dates
- Enter the expiration date when editing an item. The field appears only for types that have one, such as food, cosmetics, and medicine.
- Notifications arrive at 9 AM, 30 days before, 7 days before, and on the day of expiration.
- For the same types, you can also enter an opened date and period after opening. If the date calculated from opening comes first, notifications use that date.
Warranty end dates
- On an item, open Add a field > Records > Warranty expires and enter the date.
- Notifications arrive 30 days before, 7 days before, and on the morning the warranty ends. They follow the same Expiration reminders setting.
Prep deadlines
- Tap the deadline date at the top of a prep list’s details and set the date and time. If there is no deadline, set it in the deadline field of Edit prep list.
- On the deadline screen, check that Deadline notifications for this prep list is on. New prep lists have it on from the start, and it cannot be turned on without a deadline date.
- Notifications arrive 3 days, 1 day, and 3 hours before the deadline, and again when it is due. Prep lists marked as complete send no notifications.
When notifications do not arrive
- In My > Notifications, check that Allow notifications, Prep list deadlines, and Expiration reminders are on.
- If notifications were denied on the device, tap the “Notifications are off” row at the top of the same screen and allow them in device settings.
- Deadline notifications can be turned off for each prep list, so check that list’s deadline screen as well.
For Guest and Free, notifications are scheduled on this device. PRO sends prep deadline and expiration notifications from the server, so every device with the app installed and notifications allowed receives them. Warranty reminders are still scheduled on each device, even with PRO.
Other notifications
- When you sign in, the Cloud retention notices switch appears. With it on, we let you know before your cloud data is deleted after PRO ends.
- News and offers also appears only when you are signed in. This news goes only to people who turn it on. Unless Allow at night is on, it is not sent between 9 PM and 8 AM.
6. Weight calculator

The weight calculator is free. It totals saved weights so you can check whether a bag or equipment set is over its target.
- Inventory: choose Menu > Weight calculator at the top, then select the items to total.
- Collection: choose Menu > Weight calculator on the collection detail screen to total the whole collection.
- Prep list: choose Menu > Weight calculator on the prep detail screen to load items linked to your inventory.
On the calculator screen, choose what to include and the quantities, then compare the total with a cabin, checked-bag, or custom target. Category totals and how much remains or exceeds the target are shown too. Items without weight are left out of the total until you record it with Add weight. Planned items, whether in a collection or a prep list, and prep items not linked to your inventory are not totaled either, and anything left out is listed separately with the reason.
Always show the total
Turn on Always show the total from the menu of a collection or prep list to keep the total weight on its details. Tap the total weight to open the weight calculator right away.
7. Backup, restore, and new devices

Guest and Free personal data stays on this device by default. Make a backup file yourself before losing or replacing the device.
Create a backup file
- Go to My > Local backup > Create backup file, then tap Export in the confirmation.
- Your inventory, collections, prep lists, your templates, item types you made, app settings, and
the photos on this device go into one
.dotorify-backupfile. Photos that are only in the cloud and were never downloaded to this device are left out. - In the share sheet that opens next, save the file to Files, iCloud Drive, or another storage location you trust. On iPhone the simplest path is Save to Files, then a folder in iCloud Drive. On Android, you can also pick a folder directly with Save to device in the confirmation. The app cannot open this file again for you, so the place you pick here is the only place the backup lives.
- The file is named
dotorify-plus the date and time it was made, for exampledotorify-2026-09-14-124102.dotorify-backup. You may rename it, but keep the.dotorify-backupending.
Backup files are not encrypted. They contain personal records and photos, so do not put them in public links or shared folders. Rely on your device and storage service protections.
Restore on a new device
- Install Dotorify on the new device, then go to My > Local backup > Restore from backup file. If PRO sync is on, sign out first; signing out keeps the data on this device. On a Free account you can restore while signed in, and the restored data stays with that account.
- In the file picker, open the folder where you saved the file (for example iCloud Drive), choose
the
.dotorify-backupfile, read the confirmation, and tap Restore. - Restoring replaces all the current data on this device with the backup. Nothing is merged, so if you want to keep your current data too, create another backup file before restoring.
- If you signed out to restore, when you sign in again the restored data is linked to your account. If the cloud also has data, you will be asked what to keep.
If restoring fails partway, your current data stays as it was. If you are told the backup was made in a newer app, update the app and restore again.
Reset data
Go to My > Local backup > Reset data to delete your items (with their photos), collections, prep lists, and the templates you made. Item types you made and app settings stay. To make a backup file before deleting, tap Back up in advance in the confirmation.
If you sync with PRO, the data is also deleted from the cloud and from other devices on the same account. To clear only this device, sign out first.
8. Accounts, sync, Free, and PRO

| State | Personal data storage | Additional capabilities |
|---|---|---|
| Guest | This device | Core features without signing in |
| Free | This device | New prep templates and item types, checking off shared prep lists |
| PRO | Device + cloud sync | Multiple devices, prep sharing, server deadline and expiration notifications, theme packs |
Without signing in (Guest), your records exist only on this device. A free account signed in with Apple or Google (Free) gets new prep templates and item types as they arrive and can check off prep lists shared with you, but personal data still stays on this device. The Account and sync card at the top of My shows which one you are on: Guest, Free plan, or PRO membership. Only PRO also keeps records in the cloud and matches them across devices, so for Guest and Free the backup file in chapter 7 is the only way to move data to a new device.
Inventory, collections, prep lists, templates, on-device deadline and expiration notifications, the weight calculator, and local backup and restore are free. PRO syncs personal data and photos to the cloud and enables features that require a server connection.
Use cloud sync
- Sign in with Apple or Google from My, then start PRO.
- If both this device and the cloud contain data, review and choose Keep both, Keep this device only, or Keep the account only.
- Under the Sync now row in My, you see the last sync time and status. Tap the row to sync right away when needed. If only part of the data synced, the row changes to Retry sync.
After PRO ends
Ending PRO does not delete data already stored on this device. Cloud data stays read-only during a 30-day recovery period. During that time, choose Merge or Replace in Bring cloud data here on My to bring it to the device, or restart PRO with Subscribe again. After the recovery period, personal data in the cloud is deleted while local data on the device stays. With Cloud retention notices on, we let you know 7 days, 3 days, and 1 day before the deletion. If you start PRO again after that, the data on this device is uploaded to the cloud from scratch.
A subscription is connected to the signed-in Dotorify account and cannot move to another account. Make sure you are using the right account for billing and sync.
Manage your subscription and account
- While you have PRO, tap Manage subscription in My to open the store’s subscription screen. If you paid but PRO does not show, tap Restore purchases.
- Signing out keeps the data on this device and returns you to guest mode. PRO syncs any remaining changes first, and you are not signed out until they are all uploaded.
- Delete account is at the bottom of My. After you confirm twice, your account and cloud data are permanently deleted, and the copy on this device stays as guest data.
Deleting your account does not cancel your App Store or Google Play subscription. To stop further charges, cancel it in the store yourself.
Theme packs
Theme packs live in My > Appearance. Paper Note, Acorn Crate, and Forest Sign change the app's colors, fonts, and shapes. Anyone can tap a card to preview; applying one is a PRO perk. Applying downloads the fonts once (9–15 MB per theme). When PRO ends the app returns to the default theme, and resubscribing restores your choice. Brightness (follow device, light, dark) is always free. Theme fonts cover Korean and Latin letters; other scripts keep the device font.
App language
In My > General > Language, choose Device settings or a language: Korean, Japanese, or English. Device settings follows your phone's language. The app screens and category names switch to the chosen language; the titles of prep lists you already made stay the same.
Contact us
In My > Contact us, choose Error or bug, How do I…, Suggestion, Access my personal data, or Something else, then write your message and send it. With Send diagnostic details too on, the app version and device details go along so we can find the problem faster. Item names and photos are not included. We need an account to reply, so you must be signed in to send. Crashes are recorded automatically, so you don't need to report them separately.
9. Sharing

You can send inventory, collections, and prep lists as one image. You can also share a prep list by link and check it off together.
- Share as an image is in the menu of the Inventory tab, collections, and prep lists. Only what the preview shows goes out as one image, without notes or nicknames. The recipient can only view it.
- Share prep list lets a link recipient open the list in the app and check packed items with you.
Send a sharing link
- Open Menu > Share prep list on the prep detail screen. The owner needs active PRO to create and manage the link.
- Choose how long the link can be opened, No time limit (default), 7 days, or 30 days, then tap Create and send a link. With a limit, the message says until when it opens. People who already accepted keep the share after the limit. If you send one link to several people, everyone checks off the same list together.
- Tap Cut link under Links you sent, and no one can join through that link anymore. Remove people who are already packing together one by one on the same screen.
If the prep list has not been uploaded to the cloud yet, you cannot create a link. Try again after sync finishes.
What a recipient can do
- Open the link in Dotorify, sign in, and accept it. The recipient does not need PRO.
- Shared prep lists gather under shared with me on the Prepare tab. View the items and mark them packed or unpacked. Checks made offline are sent automatically once you are connected.
- Only the owner can add, edit, or delete items or change the deadline.
- The menu has Refresh latest status, Complete for me, Copy to my prep lists, and Leave shared prep list. Copy to my prep lists brings over only the items and creates a new prep list of your own, which stays even after the sharing ends.
If the owner’s PRO expires, the shared prep list becomes read-only. The owner must restart PRO before everyone can check together again.
To bring back the first-time tips on each tab, choose My > User guide > Show first-time tips again. The intro you saw on first launch opens again from Replay the app intro in the same place. If something is not working, use My > Contact us.
